About
Cutting, moving, gluing. Repeating, again and again, with attention and care. To observe the result of your labour, as one observes their reflection in the mirror. Finding something new. Meeting yourself once more.
The collage work of Janna Yotte showcases her abandoned skins: collages inspired by her life’s most impactful moments. In these pieces, the artist forms new beings with images taken from medical and biology volumes. The human body reveals its history in each organ; the snake represents life’s twists and turns, causing suffering and miracles; the nourishing or poisonous mushroom, bringer of dreams, emerges from forgotten matter. With this exhibition, the artist goes beyond the creation of new bodies to live, experience and feel them. Like her pieces, the artist is coming to the end of a long transformation cycle; the pieces assembled here revealing the evolution of the artist’s identity.
Janna Yotte produces high-quality prints as a way to share her work to a broader audience without compromising its integrity. Each reproduction is made using archival techniques that faithfully convey the textures, tonal subtleties, and layered compositions of her collages. By offering these prints, the artist extends the life and reach of her creations.
